We had breakfast on the balcony in our hotel. It was very relaxing. This was going to be a long day. We had booked a boat trip around Capri, so we caught the shuttle down into town, then walked through some of the shopping district of Positano before heading to the pier. The trip to Capri took about 30 minutes and gave us some gorgeous views of Positano from the water.
The harbour of Capri is very pretty, and very busy. The boat trip around the island was not until 2pm, and we wanted to go to Anacapri, so to save time we caught a taxi.
We really wanted to go up to Monte Solero, so we found the chairlift up from the main intersection of Anacapri. The chairlift is a single chair, and takes about 10 minutes to get to the top. It is so peaceful on the way up as you climb over backyards, vineyards and farmhouses. Unfortunately I was stung by a bee on the way up which made it a little uncomfortable, but the view from the top was simply breathtaking.
Eventually we took the chairlift back down, and walked around Anacapri to have a look around. I had heard about a church with a mosaic floor, so we went hunting for it. We found it – the Chiesa di San Michele. The floor was beautiful. They have built a deck around the outside for people to walk on and enjoy the floor which depicts the garden of Eden.
We had street food for lunch – a slice of pizza, a bread roll with mozzarella, a schnitzel. We then caught the bus back to the marina for our boat tour. We paid for the tour then meet our captain for the afternoon, Stefano. He was fun, full of information, and took us to look at everything around the island. It was really enjoyable and relaxing.
