Today was another full day as we got on the 8am train to Montreux on Lake Geneva. The trip was quite short, about an hour. The lake was absolutely breathtaking. First stop, from the train station, was the waterfront, and the statue of Freddie Mercury.
We walked along the waterfront all the way to Chateaux de Chillon. It was beautiful, and serene.
We then caught the train for the quick trip back to Montreux, and had morning tea / lunch of paninis before catching the connecting trains to Gruyeres, high up in the mountains. The scenery heading up was unbelievable. Gruyeres is an old medieval castle, and quite stunning.
We then walked down to Maison Gruyeres, near the train station to taste some of the cheese.
After eating way more chocolate than we should have, we headed back to Bern for dinner.
We then caught the next train to nearby Broc, home of Maison Cailler, the Nestle chocolate factory.
We found a nice restaurant in the main platz, Le Mazot, and the girls shared a traditional Swiss fondue.
