Today was another moving day as we shifted base to Zurich. We set off after ten for the short one hour trip. The hotel was a little further away from the station and up hill so it was hard work, but once we checked in we set off the explore Zurich.
We started in the old town. It was quite beautiful. We walked along Munstergasse as far as the Grossmunster, then walked to the end of the Limmat to the Zurichsee.
We then crossed the river and walked up the famous Bahnoffstrasse. Unfortunately it was a Sunday and all the shops were closed, so the street was very quiet.
We stopped for a drink and a gelato at Confiserie Sprungli.
We then walked all the way to the station, then looped around to the Lindehof for some beautiful views of the Limmat river. It was really nice just watching how the locals pass their Sunday afternoons.
Finally, we walked all the way to the end of the Platzspitz past the national museum, then back to the hotel to prepare for dinner. We went to the old town to a local pub, the Johanniter. I had a wurst with frites – when in Switzerland…
It was a very pleasant and more relaxing day. Tomorrow was going to be very long and tiring, so we headed back to our hotel for an early evening.
